  • Harry Brearley - Robin Fielder 21st May 2019 Rose Hill United Reformed Church, 22 Soresby St, Chesterfield S40 1JN, UK Harry Brearley (1871-1948) is usually credited with the invention of "rustless steel", better well-known as stainless steel. Less well known is the fact that he lived in Chesterfield for many years.

He began work at Barrow Hill on 10th January 1955, straight after leaving school, and finally retired in 2003. He is now a volunteer at Barrow Hill.
